Day 26 of 84: Sleep Is Important..For Many Reasons..

I’m going to preface this post with the fact that I am crabby today due to lack of sleep, and I may go off on a rant a little. Please pardon my distaste with some of those in our human race.

Last night Bart and I went out to see a band called The Flobots. I heard of The Flobots a few months ago when they started playing a song called Handlebars on the radio. Instantly I was hooked on their sound. Bart and I don’t get out much and a trip into Houston from where we live to see a band play is pretty rare, but we got to go last night and I’m so glad I did. The Show was awesome, and I observed some things that I found to be quite interesting(and a little disgusting)while we were there.

Here are some guidelines that I would like to put forth for anyone considering a night out in the club:

1. I am amazed at the CRAP people will wear in public and call fashion. If you are a female and weigh over say 150 pounds you have NO BUSINESS wearing short shorts and a TUBE top. Have a little respect for your fellow man’s eyes. That is NOT attractive at all. When I was at my biggest I wouldn’t have even worn something like that in my yard to water the plants, let alone in PUBLIC. That type of fashion is reserved for the “beautiful” people. If you aren’t one of those please refrain from wearing it. Form fitting clothing is for those who have a nice form. (I know that sounds catty but you have no idea how many women were out last night dressed in stuff they had no business putting on their bodies) I would also like to add here that Just because you can get into it, doesn’t mean it fits. Nuff’ said.

2. You know you are too drunk to be in public when you literally SLOBBER on the guy next to you trying to walk past spilling your beer all over their shoes. I saw a few people in this state last night. So wasted their eyes were practically crossed. There have been more than a few times when I have been in this state myself, but DAMN. I’m so glad I grew out of that phase of my life. If you are over the age of say 23 you are TOO OLD to be getting THAT DRUNK in public. GROW UP!

3. If you KNOW you are going to be in a crowded club in close quarters with other people please BATHE with SOAP and use DEODORANT before going out. I was cramped up next to a guy that every time he raised his arms in the air my nostrils were assailed with the most FOUL stench I have ever smelled. How in the world he couldn’t tell he stunk to high heaven is beyond me. I swear he hadn’t bathed in two weeks, and had some sort of CHEESE growing in his armpits. Ugh. The girl on the other side of me that looked like Wednesday Adams with 15 piercings in her face also could have used a bath. She reeked of Clove Cigarettes, and what I can only guess was lack of feminine hygiene. And no, Patchouli will not cover that smell up.

There was a time when I would have been right there with them drinking and partying, but something inside of me has changed. I seem to have grown up in the last month and now I get my high from good nutrition and hard exercise, not nicotine, and alcohol.

The old me would have been pounding beers down and Jagermeister. The new me drank water. I danced enough to burn at least 500 calories too, and I REMEMBER all of the songs they played. What a novel concept huh? It’s certainly different to go to a club and not drink, not smoke, and remember everything the next day. It’s nice to wake up in the morning not feeling hung over after a night out on the town, and not have to wonder what the hell happened and if you have done something heinous to embarrass the hell out of yourself. Never again.

The one thing I would have to say I learned from last night is that Sleep is Important. We didn’t get home until after 2am. I got up after only 5 hours of sleep and I still worked out. I was still pretty tired and couldn’t really give it my ALL but I still think I got a decent workout in, and it’s certainly better than missing it altogether. (Missing a workout is simply NOT in my vocabulary..) I think I would have to lose a leg or something to NOT workout. So I did all of my BFL lower body workout and skipped the Incline Training on the Treadmill.

Now I’m going to drink more coffee, shower, and take some time to relax and recharge my batteries today. Maybe I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow.

And again, I’m terribly sorry if I offended anyone with my little rants. I’m in a crabby mood today due to lack of sleep. Forgive me.
